Cookie Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

This policy explains cookies and similar technologies used by The Local Website Company’s website, operated by Whiff Limited.

What are cookies and browser storage?

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a browser and sent with relevant requests. Local storage can keep information on a device between visits. Session storage is separate browser storage associated with a tab’s browsing session. These technologies can serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable.

What we have identified

In Chrome Incognito checks of private staging on 16 October 2026, no cookies were listed for this website. After unnecessary Elementor counters were disabled, a completely fresh session showed empty Local Storage on the homepage and Contact page, including after opening and closing the enquiry popup twice. Session Storage contained the WordPress entry described below. These findings apply to the tested pages and browser conditions; they are not a guarantee about every possible visit or request.

wpEmojiSettingsSupports — session storage. WordPress stores browser emoji-support test results to help it choose how to render emoji. This is browser storage, not a cookie. It normally lasts for the tab’s browsing session, subject to the browser’s restoration behaviour. The code also checks the results’ freshness; that check is not a persistent-cookie lifetime.

Analytics, advertising and external services

We do not operate a marketing mailing list or intentionally deploy analytics or advertising tracking. Elementor’s page-view, visit-session and enquiry-popup opening counters have been disabled on the redesigned staging pages. Fresh checks of the homepage and Contact journey did not create Elementor storage entries.

The captured homepage requests were same-origin and returned HTTP 200. Visible requests during the Contact-page and enquiry-popup checks were same-origin WordPress and Elementor resources; no third-party tracking requests were identified. One request’s purpose was not established, and these checks do not establish every possible request or provider processing arrangement.

Consent and choices

UK rules apply to local and session storage as well as cookies. Whether consent is needed depends on the particular purpose and whether an applicable exception’s conditions are met. We do not treat a technology as exempt simply because it is supplied by WordPress or Elementor.

You can use your browser’s settings to manage or remove cookies and site data. The available controls vary by browser, and deleting data may affect saved preferences. Browser settings do not replace any consent or objection controls that the website itself is required to provide.
